Last time I showed you a tutorial of Scarlett O’Hara’s earrings<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. Then a friend suggested they would look even better in purple. She was so right! So I got myself some dark purple twin beads. It’s nice to play with the beads and to find shapes and patterns. Here’s one of the great discoveries.<\/p>\n

This one is a bit tricky and easy at the same time. At least I found that it requires certain way of thinking. At first I felt like I had to think two beads forward and backward all the time. When you get the idea, nothing could be easier. It’s basically just zigzagging from one side to another. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Violetta!<\/p>\n

You’ll need<\/p>\n

– thread and needle
\n– seedbeads size 11
\n– twin beads or superduos
\n– scissors
\n– a clasp<\/p>\n

Begin with a stopper. Then take two twin beads and bring your thread through them.<\/p><\/div>\n

Add three seedbeads and a twin bead. Take the thread through the empty hole of twin bead you placed earlier.<\/p><\/div>\n

Tighten, and the beads fall into the places.<\/p><\/div>\n

Add three seedbeads, go through the top hole, then add a twin bead. Tighten the thread.<\/p><\/div>\n

Add three beads and a twin bead. If this phase looks familiar, it’s because you have made a full cycle and this is practically the same as three pictures earlier.<\/p><\/div>\n

Make your necklace a little longer than you planned, for it will get couple of centimeters shorter later. When you have the desired lenght and a little extra, it’s time to end an end. Add four seedbeads before and after the toggle and take the thread through a twin bead hole closest to clasp.<\/p><\/div>\n

Tighten the loop and go through couple of times to make it secure.<\/p><\/div>\n

Make a double knot that ties together your working thread and loom thread. Take the thread through couple of seedbeads and cut the rest. If you wish to turn and go back while ending the thread, the only way to do that is to make a knot here.<\/p><\/div>\n

It is most recommended to take a long thread and go through all the way and tighten your work every step of the way. As you see, difference is hard to catch with a naked eye but it affects very much how your necklace or bracelet behaves. Lower side has not gone through second tightening and as you see, it twists and turns much more than the upper side.<\/p><\/div>\n
