Edit 20.5.2015 Ellikki’s blog is no longer affiliate marketer of Vale de Ferreiros.
Right in the heart of Portugal there is a very old town called Abrantes, and in the outskirts of the town there is a village of Pego, home for Vale de Ferreiros equestrian centre. The estate breeds Portugues Lusitanos as dressage horses and Dutch KWPN horses who are excellent in showjumping. Lusitanos, on the other hand, are one of the best breed for dressage.
If you wish to go someplace where you can just ride carefree in surrounding nature or improve your skills in dressage or jumping without distraction of everyday life, in Portugal you can do just that. Daytime temperature is 20 degrees or more from March to October, rainy season is from November to February. Even at rainy season it won’t rain every day, probably once or twice a week.
Every customer gets a selected horse based on skill level and personal points of interest, also some physical features are taken into account. Instructors speak English and French, among them are some of the best riders in Portugal. Rider’s skills will be evaluated so that he can be given just the right horse.
