We all have two ears, so earrings usually are needed in pairs. If one of them is lost, it’s really irritating. Very few of us are willing to wear a single earring without its duplicate. All this inspired me to design earrings that wouldn’t go missing so easily. They are connected by a magnet ball when they are not in use. When they are, kidney wires help them to stay at their place.

Magneetti 1

You will need a spherical magnet clasp, beads, horse shoes and kidney wires. The tools for the task are thread, a needle and a pair of scissor.

Magneetti 2

Begin by attaching a horse shoe to the magnet. Slip the thread from both directions to the horse shoe couple of times. The loose ends should be equally long. Use pliers to bring shoe’s ends close to each other. Tie a knot.

Magneetti 3

Place all the beads on the thread and take the other thread through the same route as the first one.

Magneetti 4

Place the other horse shoe on its place pretty much the same way as you did with the first one that you attached to the magnet: take the thread round the shoe from both sides couple of times and then tie a sturdy knot.

Magneetti 5

Tie the closing knot carefully. Take the thread downwards, tie a double knot in the middle. Tie your working thread around the one that goes through the beads.

Magneetti 6

When you have made one or two closing knots, bring the thread out from the last bead and cut off the rest. Repeat with the other thread.

Magneetti 7

Open the loop in the kidney wire, place the work there and close with pliers.

Then you need to make another one exactly like the first one. It’s always wise to slide magnets sideways rather than pull them apart. You need much less force and you won’t damage your earrings that way. If your hooks are silver, keep the in a small plastic bag to prevent them from getting dark.

You have just made yourself a pair of earrings that will stick with you as long as you like.
