I tend to think myself as a person who is not afraid to ask when the situation calls for it. One thing I have hesitated to ask though is meaning of RAW. It sounds like, well, raw. This week I asked from fellow beaders for good tutorials of right angle weave. It was only then that I connected those two. Right angle weave is RAW!
I liked it immediately. Jill Wiseman explained it really well, she said it was like making an apartment building with walls, ceilings and floors. I see it as city of streets and blocks. She also used an illustration of a city with lots of one-way streets. The best part is that if things don’t go as planned and you end up in a spot you didn’t want to, you can just go around couple of corners and weave your way in to the right place. On top you can see my first attempt of making RAW. Not bad for a first time, huh?
The funny part here is that my county, Southern Kymenlaakso, has picked a slogan “RAW by nature”. Yes, it’s in English. And yes, they spell it exactly like that. So right angle weave is my kind of technique in every sense. I’m RAW by nature.
