For me, there’s one beading pattern I like more than any other. The one is quick, easy and versatile. I have used it in many different situations and the result is always very nice. I have decorated flip-flops, made earrings, necklaces and bracelets with this pattern.
You need two needles and two threads. The needles make loop that looks like endless number 8, they meet in the middle and change sides. The result looks like right angle weave but is much simpler to do. Here it is:
If you want to make earrings like ones above, you take only one long thread and two needles, and you place the first beads in the middle of the thread. Note that the beginning bead (the lower center bead) is set to place like a starting bead, thread goes twice through it.
A piece of tape will help you to keep the work still.
The last bead is different: instead of working to opposite directions, take both threads through the last bead together.
After the last bead, place a knot cover, tighten the knot inside and add a drop of glue to secure it. And… you’re done!
Where else can you use this pattern? Anywhere! Here’s what I’ve made of it. Changing bead size makes it look totally different.
